What an awesome story! I've used Twitter a lot to get breaking news and opinion, but the use of the service for more lengthy reporting is a real inspiration.

Chris, I think it's incredibly smart to utilize the resources available to you. I only write for a small town newspaper, but last year I used MySpace and Facebook to find college students from my area who were on campus at Northern Illinois University when there was a shooting there. It was just a short human interest story, but compelling none the less and turned a bigger, national story into a local one.

You cannot be a good journalist without having good instincts, but good instincts + modern technology = journalism that can really reach people.

Good job and good luck.
